Monster Trio (Chainsaw Man)

It would be fine, they had each other.

Those were the thoughts Denji repeated in his head, over and over like a mantra.

They had all been changed, in some way or another. Power had shed her human body, Aki had become the Gun Fiend, and he had been stuck in this form, a muscular, black carapace imitating the steel of a chainsaw. Not devil, or human, or fiend, that was what Makima said.

He could almost feel Pochita pumping blood through his veins, his presence thrumming through his brain. It was comforting.

None of them could return to humanity anymore. Although, he supposed, Power had never been human, and for the last while, he wasn't fully either.

Makima… she… she had betrayed him, used him. He felt dumb, and angry, and mournful. She was dead now, anyway. By his saw. He still loved her.

They ran.

And so here they were, in the forest, trying to avoid the heat and devil hunters. They didn't really have a destination, maybe they would hide in the woods forever, were there Devil towns?

Aki had it the worst off, he didn't seem to know what was going on, and it was hard to tell what was him and what was the Gun Devil. Maybe it was cruel, selfish, to keep him like this instead of ending his torment. But if there was even a chance of Aki coming back… He had to come back, because Denji and Power loved him, because he still remembered his name and smiled at them, because he still tried to take care of them when he couldn’t.

Power was the same as ever, dramatic, bratty, caring. She still needed someone.

So Denji tried to step up, to be the one who takes care of Power and Aki.

He would never be able to live a normal life like this, but… maybe he’d be able to live a happy life.

It would be fine, they had each other.
